PernMUSH: May 9, 2007 OOC Search Meeting Search Cycle: Summer 2007 Search Information Meeting May 9, 2007 Public announcement: Satiet announces "High Reaches is about to head into our OOC Search cycle! If you're interested in applying or interested in the process in general, please @tel #770 and come around and hang out with us for a bit. ^^v" B'yan has arrived. Melata has arrived. Raykini has arrived. Shanlee has arrived. Rylla has arrived. Satiet waves around and sets out the tra-... I mean snacks. Tavrie smiles. B'yan eyes and waves around. ;) Shanlee waves and blinks owlishly :) Raykini peers. Talien has arrived. Melata just stands around and looks like Melata. Kasiese has arrived. Satiet waves, "Hiya." ^^ Kasiese bounces in just because she can. Dassah has arrived. Shanlee snugs a Doc :) Satiet tosses over sodas and chocolate and sinks into cushions. Satiet says, "Welcome everyone! ^^ A log of this meeting will be available after the meeting for those of you who want to reread it and for those who couldn't make it." Satiet grins. "So, I guess this is our big introduction to our OOC Search cycle. The applications are open and submittable and hopefully if you have any questions, you'll jump in and ask. :) We like questions. ^^" Satiet says, "Much like last time, we're aiming for short, sweet, to the point with our candidacy and as of now, the actual IC part of candidacy is approximately about 3-4 weeks. :) The bulk of this time will be late June to early July so mark your calendars. :)" Satiet says, "Speaking of calendars, are schedule can be found on the interwebs at http://search.hrweyr.net/ and on the game in any HRW room in +lhelp search calendar. ^^" Shalyn has arrived. Birgitte has arrived. Satiet gestures to Tavrie a la Vanna White, up and down and all that jazz: "The flight, as posted just a moment ago, will be Tavrie's Nabrimeth and is not predetermined so if any potential catchers are reading out there, go chatty Tav up." ;) Shanlee chuckles and puts pretty bows on Nabrimeth's tail :) Rylla wolf whistles! Shalyn laughs as Shanlee chases tail. Kasiese says "Ba-dum-CHING." Satiet giggles. That's a new fashion statement. XD Dassah crawls into Rylla's lap and listens. :) Satiet coughs, "Just don't try with Teonath." Shanlee thinks green with purple polka dots for Teonath might work ;) Shalyn grumps and falls silent... stupid maves. Birgitte shudders. Rylla tickles Dassah as she listens again. Satiet says, "Every cycle at High Reaches for the last five cycles or so have included the option of something called a character concept -- an idea that first confused me but after understanding it more, I've warmed up totally to it. ;)" Tavrie coughs. "Gee...thanks." *^^* Satiet applied as a concept character at that. "This time, however, we have drawn up a list of character types we might be specifically looking for in candidates this time." Satiet will go over them briefly. But you can find them listed here: http://www.hrweyr.net/index.php?dir=search&page=guide?=6 Satiet says, "With Thread falling, we've had a variety of atmosphere posts going up, telling what's going on around our coverage area, as well as implying that parents are less prone to wanting to relinquish their kids to a life of dragonriding, what with spastic Thread falling with no rhyme or reason. ;)" Satiet says, "So we're opening up characters who hit the upper and lower limits of the Search age. This would allow people to create characters between 12 and 25, rather than the usual 14 to 23." Satiet says, "We'd also like some actual nice people. ;) Besides Tavrie and Shan, we're a bunch of cranks. ;) Cheerful cranks, but still cranks. ^.~" Melata heys...she's nice! B'yan laughs. XD Shanlee snickers Raykini isn't nice >>' Dassah is becoming nice! Shalyn says "That must be new... I applied and impressed at 12." Rylla tosses her head and arcs a brow. "Speak for yourself Darlin'." Dassah says "Sort of." Kasiese is nice! Shanlee eyes Raykini and encourages Dassah some more M'wen has arrived. Shanlee is quite sure Dassah could be the next Goodwill Ambassador for HRW ;) Satiet grins. "Shalyn, it's not new, but the ideal age before was 14-23, 12-25 was allowed but were scrutinized a bit more before. Now, we're opening this up for IC reasons to try and fill out a potentially limited candidate pool." The Dassah formerly located here is currently under remodelling. Satiet says, "The third concept we're open to are those characters who /want/ to fight Thread or at least the chance to, but whose parents might be against it. As per the website, please clear this concept with us before starting an application for it -- it's so we don't get ten applications for 'runaways' and having to deny 8 of them due to too many. ;)" C'len has arrived. Satiet says, "And we'd hate for y'all to take the time to write up a fantastic app but find we've already filled our 'quota' of potential runaways. So, once again, ping R'hin or myself if you are considering this concept. ^^" Charis has arrived. Satiet says, "The last concept, as part of the ongoing Lotriet plot, is refugees from that poor devastated hold." Satiet says, "Any questions so far? ^^" Dassah says "Can we be 'Yay fight thread!' if we don't have parents to disapprove? :)" Satiet laughs. Yes. XD Charis waves as she comes late Raykini doesn't think his character will be very 'yay' about anything XD. Satiet says, "These concepts are just starting point ideas for people who might be considering Search and want to know what the Weyr might need. This is in no way to limit people to just those 4 character types. :)" Kasiese hands Charis a pink slip. You're late, you have detention. Shanlee snugs a Charis and hides her from the mean Doc ;) Satiet snugs everyone who's come and slips Charis a bit of fudge. Shanlee spies a C'len and snugs a wingleadery type too :) Melata says, "Only I can give Charis detention." Kasiese wears a Melata mask? Satiet snickers. I dunno, a mindhealer might have means to forge Melata's signature. XD Shanlee laughs XD Charis grins at Melata Satiet says, "If they don't know, they'll point you at someone who might. XD" Birgitte waves her hand. "Is it generally males or females, that are missing, or does it vary so much its hard to say?" Melata concentrates on being nice, but the smile is looking a bit strained around the edges, as she doen't type what come to mind...nice...nice...nice.... Satiet says, "We've been immensely lucky to have a pretty good balance in candidates in the last 2-3 years." Satiet says, "I think, one cycle, we actually ended up with more male candidates than female. But in general, play what you like, what you feel comfortable with. :) Gender doesn't matter as much unless you're aiming for metallics." Raykini noddles. Satiet says, "Cause canon dictates golds go to females, and bronzes go to males. ;)" Charis snickers at Melata Satiet grins. Dassah says "What do robots get?" Shanlee says "Barney." ;) Satiet laughs. Dassah aies and melts faster. Raykini says "ewww, barney :p." Satiet says, "With OOC Search starting today, we will be accepting applications up until June 24th, two days after the clutching." Charis hoards the fudge slipped to her by Satiet Satiet says, "And yes, that is definitely the clutching date so mark your calendars up too. ^.~" Satiet says, "Metallic applications will be due by June 30th. However we encourage people who have an interest in it to start early." Dassah likes that timeframe! I should be able to RP sanely by then. =) Satiet says, "And get them in as soon as you can. :) Our metallic app has been spruced from years previous, as has our general application. If you have any questions on either, please feel free to ask R'hin or myself." Raykini peers, "This hatching is definitely going to happen right? *peers at Igen*." Kasiese says "Igen has foregone thier cycle this go-around, it seems." Rylla nods to Raykini. "Yes." Shanlee nods to Raykini "Without a doubt." :) Raykini says "just making sure >>'." Dassah says "Igen did so, with good reason. :)" Charis hands Melata her get out of detention free card Melata squints at the card, discovering it is actually the "Get Out Of Jail" card from a Monopoly game. Birgitte laughs. Shanlee snickers Charis grins and shruga Charis shrugs Charis says "Sat? You'll post the log on the website?" Satiet nods. Yep. :) Charis snugs, "Yay. Especially since I was late." Shanlee does try to tell Raykini that actually we are all quite, quite sane :) Well, some of us anyway XD Satiet grins and scruffs. Raykini says "How many impressions are you allowed to make?" M'wen says "I know I am." Satiet says, "We are allowed up to 8 Impressions this time. :) With the flight happening 10 days after the opening of Search this also brings into question of whether or not we will be considering having a gold." Charis snickers at M'wen Shanlee needs to work on M'wen some more she thinks ;) Dassah is totally not sane. Melata personally thinks we should only impress blues, but she may be a bit biased. Raykini isn't sane either :p. Shanlee paints all the blues green ;) Raykini is just quiet. Satiet says, "To be honest, it'll depend on the flight. We have the luxury of not requiring a gold this cycle, but if a bronze wins Nabrimeth's flight, the option will be considered." Charis peers at Shan and hides her Qeteth Satiet paints Kaylith purple. Shalyn says "We have 4 active or semi-active queens. I think 1 more would fill the Jr. WW quarters." Kasiese makes every single one of you appointments to see her later. Ahem. Divya has arrived. Tavriegiggles. "Purple looks good on her." Shanlee grins and thanks Satiet and starts singing "I love you, you love me...." ;) Melata ahems as she finds her blue has been greened. Charis dies laughing Satiet says, "A question we get often is what we look for in potential candidates, aka what do we look for in applications and prior to IC Search." Satiet eyes Shanlee post-lag. Shanlee hums into her coffee mug ...we're a happy family.... Dassah sings YMCA. Charis does the hand movements for YMCA while Dassah sings Satiet says, "In can be summed up in three traits: Activity, honesty, and loving your character. You've gotta love your character to be active and like being active, and we'd prefer you were honest in your application, especially in what you would like to Impress (from colors to actual dragon personalities and stuff). :)" Shanlee agrees totally on the dragon personality thing there Raykini still isn't sure what color he wants or what sort of personality he wants --'. Birgitte says "Well anyone would love Kaylith. :)" Charis says "Qeteth wuvs Kaylith" Satiet says, "That's fine too. :) We ask a few times in candidacy to make sure people know what they want and are, in the end, happy with the results. :)" Kaylith feels the love ;) Satiet thinks I have covered most of everything I needed to. Satiet thinks very hard a la Pooh. "Any questions?" ^^ Dassah raises a hand timidly. Satiet says, "Shoot. ^^" Divya offers Satiet some hunny. Dassah says "What determines honesty in the app? Cause, well, I've been doing this a long time, and have at least twice now been told my answeres weere too 'right', when really, it's just an insanely long time of seeing what works and what doesn't work. It's made me a bit jaded on apps, I confess." Satiet isn't sure how answers can be too 'right' when, personally, I'm not sure if there is any right answer out there for some of these questions. Satiet says, "Mostly, at HRW, with our applications fairly concise, I would imagine, for the sake of SC sanity, putting down only the colors you want and making sure to let us know what you want or don't want in a dragon is the extent of it." Satiet says, "In terms of the metallic application, there might be more leeway. Basically, these are just little ways that give SC insights as to what you are like as a fellow player and potential admin." Dassah nodnods. HRW wasn't one fo the places, I will note. :) Satiet isn't sure if that answers your question, but I think honesty is one of those things that are said and hoped for, but it can't be explained as well, or at least I'm totally faltering here at a good way to explain it. Satiet says, "In a nutshell, if you're happy with your application and your decisions, then it'll show. ^^" Rylla says "Bingo Satiet :)" Dassah hmms. OK. :) Shanlee likes the character concept ideas you've come up with. Satiet pokes around for some more questions. "Bueller?" Shalyn says "Why do dragons lay eggs mama?" Raykini is good. Birgitte is big on the 'players who are happy with their characters'. "You don't have to be /happy/, ICly, or even nice, but I'm with whoever said you just need to be delighted with the character you create. A good sense of 'self'. That's very... endearing." Satiet starts in on the birds and the bees... Shanlee eyes Shalyn and hands her a book to read ;) Kasiese says "Did I miss the post asking about SearchCo and stuff?" Satiet says, "And then just eyes Shalyn. No making fun of the pregnant woman. XD" Shanlee snickers Shalyn hides under a rock. Divya kicks the rock over. Satiet nods. "The post for SC went up April 19th and came down April 26th or 27th, one or the other I cannot recall exactly right now." Satiet cannot hide behind a rock anymore. ;-; Shalyn Yeeks! Shanlee pushes Teonath in front of Satiet then Satiet nods with Birgitte. "Loving your character is a big part of being happy as a player and makes RP that much more fulfilling." Raykini likes this character, he's just a grump :p. Shanlee would like to put Shan over her knee sometimes ;) Birgitte would buy tickets to that, Shanlee. Dassah loves her character, even if she's cranky, obnoxious, and a royal pain in the behind to RP. She's challening, though, and has taught me a lot. :) Shanlee ....... Rylla scratches her head and sighs, "Boy I'm in trouble I hate me." ;) Satiet laughs. "That's ok, at least the feeling is (ICly) mutual." ;) Satiet scruffs Rylla too. Rylla dies laughing! "Right!" :) Shalyn says "I love Shal, even if she is a bitch sometimes." Melata is perfect in every way. Shanlee steals Melata's blinkers ;) Kasiese scampers off to finish packing the house, since it seems like most things have been covered. xp Kasiese goes home. Kasiese has left. Satiet waves. Late. Melata hides her rose-colored glasses from potential thiefs. Satiet says, "Any last oh oh! questions before I close the log?" Talien says "Oh! Oh!" *waves her hand wildly*" Satiet turns eyes onto Talien. Shanlee snickers Shalyn says "How can we tell if someone does enjoy their character?" Satiet says, "Suspiciously." Satiet laughs. We as in someone else or we as in self? Dassah says "Step one, don't admit on channel you're struggling. =)" Rylla says "It shows in thier Rp. :)" Tavrie laughs. Satiet thinks struggling is part of it. Talien lies. I have no questions. >:) Satiet struggles off and on with Satiet being as spiteful as she is. But it doesn't make me love her less. XD Tavrie says "And I have days where I've had such a bad day...I can't maintain Tavrie's obnoxious sunny personality." Birgitte thinks if you spell your own character's name wrong, that's a bad sign. Or forget their history. Or their friends. Or just aren't paying attention... Dassah agrees with you there, Satiet, completely. :) Satiet agrees with Rylla. It's again, one of those things that are hard to quantify. XD Shanlee suggests IC torture to Tavrie :) M'wen says "Truth be told, I dont know what's going on 4 quarters of the time, but it doesn't stop me!" Tavrie shrugs. "Remembering what you're trying to get across and enjoying doing so is key."
