You say "We are aiming for 1.5 hours if this helps people schedule dinner, dates, sleeping. :) It may go over, so no promises, but we like to leave enough brain power and time for RP afterwards."

You say "Like last time, I feel compelled to mention this (just in case) given what happened at Fort's most recent hatching: If the game goes down, the hatching will continue /as planned/ on TooMUSH, which is located at too.logrus.com 6660."

N'thei knocks on wood that game stability continues!

Satiet will be on both games (knocks on lots of wood too), to help redirect traffic or help do some last minute troubleshooting in case, for some reason, _only you_ cannot get to NC.

You say "All sorts of tempting fate aside, that brings us to the time we expect candidates to be online. As we would prefer to be able to get the candidates on the sands at 9PM exactly, we would appreciate it if you could be online at least 15-30 minutes in advanced. :)"

You say "At High Reaches, if you've noticed from the post Milani made, we do not expect candidates to desc robes and thus will not be requiring them to be checked by anyone. It's a one time event and describing a potato sack shouldn't have to be one of your priorities when there's RP to be had. :)"

You say "However, if you would like to, please remember that it is, basically a dress-like potato sack with holes for your neck arms and legs. Girls with long hair should pull their hair back and lucky for you all, we allow thick-soled sandals to help prevent your feet from burning off. XD"

You say "I think, in some years, some candidates roleplayed slathering their feet with numbweed right before the hatching too."

Lujayn imagines lots of candidates falling down because they can't feel their feet.

Satiet snickers. I don't know how /well/ it worked out, but y'know, maybe if you can't feel the heat it's much easier to imagine floating on a cloud.

Leova imagines little bladders of numbweed all set to be punctured by claws, like fake blood for movies. ;)

You say "Once on the sands, there will be no group pose, but ICly, you should all bow to the clutch parents and form a loose semi-circle around the eggs. Please do not pose touching any of the dragonets or eggs unless you have Impressed, and you will most likely know this. Also, do not pose NPC candidates getting bowled over, injured (or yourselves). While we'd love to have NPC flavor on the sands, don't feel forced to play your NPCs if you are overwhelmed by sheer spammage."

You say "We'll be taking care of the various NPC Impressions. But in the end, this is all about you guys and all that matters if you're having fun. :)"

You say "The general rule of thumb on the sands is one pose per egg or hatchling pose. When scenes get to be that big, I like to focus on the characters physically closest to mine, so it's like a smaller cluster within a larger scene, and I know some people like to follow the 'pose once every 3-4 other poses.'"

You say "Generally, just let us know you're still alive over there by posing consistently. ;) Let me tell you, there have been moments in previous hatchings where we're all wondering what happened and it turns out someone went to the potty at an inopportune moment."

Satiet ... This does not, however mean, do not go to the potty if you need to. ^^;

You say "Since it will likely be a spammy affair, we'd prefer that poses remain somewhere less than 8 lines with your name prepended. It helps us keep track of whether or not Someone has posed. :)"

You say "If you Impress, you will most likely know it. If you're not sure, please page me and I will either have an answer for you, or be able to direct you to a person who will have the answer for you!"

N'thei says "In case the 10 pages of 'congratulations!!' don't give it away. ;)"

You say "Impression messages tend to include your new name/honorific and the dragon's name. Some areas ask that you say your dragon's name in your post-Impression pose, but as it is your moment, please feel free to act according to how your character would react. We would appreciate it if you did include the new dragon's name in the pose, even if not spoken. :)"

Satiet facepalm, "And what N'thei said." XD

You say "We also would like to offer the option of, if you absolutely do not like the dragon name at all, skip mentioning the name completely and page me so we can discuss it at a later, less spammy time."

You say "Most people on SC will be fairly busy that day, but in the case you can't find anyone to puppet you for the event, please feel free to +mail Shanlee and myself your character's name, the [temporary] password and a few poses sketched out of what your character might do to help us out so Jane Smith doesn't suddenly turn into Candy Cane overnight from a 180 personality adjustment."

Viviana says "For the weyrlings, when they impress, will they be guided off the sands or roleplay on the sands with the newly hatched?"

You say "Leova's asked if you can nominate NPC candidates to Impress. That's a resounding yes - I'm sorry I forgot to post about it! No one knows the NPC candidates better than you all, so if you have NPCs that you'd love to see Impress and have any ideas for what would make an amusing color partner or snippets of personality, feel free to +mail that to N'thei. Also if you have nominations for NPCs to be hurt, we will consider that."

Niena ponders having Sevel searched so he can be mauled. I'm such a sweet bigger sister.

You say "When you Impress, you will be guided off the sands by one of the assistant weyrlingmasters and taken to a quiet area so you will be able to RP with your dragon. They will remain puppeted for as long as you desire, or for as long as the puppeteer is able to do so."

You say "If you need to run and don't know who your puppeteer is, feel free to page me and I will get you in touch with the right person. :)"

You say "When you Impress, you will receive a rather hefty +mail and a smaller +mail that you can take your time to read later. It details various things, such as websites, what to do, what to expect, and most important, what to read to get your DTUs."

You say "The smaller +mail will have code written specifically for you and your dragon (dbrefs and all included), that will help you puppet your dragon immediately so we don't have to pause RP for OOC information. However, if you do have OOC questions post-hatching, please feel free to direct them either my way or one of your assistant weyrlingmasters in I'daur's absence."

You say "You will know the entire RL day of the hatching that it will be sometime /that/ day, or the next day at the latest. Sometime /very/ soon. There'll be dignitaries flying in, and you will find yourself peeling your 1000th tuber within the first 4 hours of the day."

You say "Your family, if they're likely to come, might also be found wandering around the Weyr and feel free to ignore your chore roster for that day in lieu of hanging out with your family, dusting out the banners that'll hang in the galleries, or pulled to never ending kitchen duty. IC time, I don't think that's been discussed but we'll +bbpost about it! - It's sometimes hard because people are coming in from all over the game and when it's evening on the game, time futzing sometimes doesn't work too well. But we will +bbpost, thank you for bringing that up. :)"

Satiet will be updating the page/lock list -- though we generally don't recommend locking yourself to pages given some other people, including the dragon's puppeteer might want to page you, or you'll miss people's well-wishes or congratulations. :)

You say "These are some little codey tips that we've gathered throughout the years to try to make the spam a little bit more manageable."

Satiet can help those people who use tinyfugue, though I'm at a loss for MUSHClient - but someone at the Weyr might be able to help you there.

Satiet would advise you, in addition to highlighting your own name to perhaps highlight the names of people your character is close to, or might be standing close by. The galleries will not be audible to the sands come hatching day, and we will attempt to get a full log up of ledges, galleries and sands for you to read later. :)

You say "You could set an idle message and spawn it off into another world. I don't think spawns exist in MUSHClient though. :)"

You say "Also, I found it difficult to keep up during my own hatching and I ended up doing +rwho hrw a lot to see who had Impressed to what by what point."

You say "At HRW, we have a command +hstatus that doesn't show anything now, that will keep you up to date on the goings on of the hatching. :)"

Satiet grins. "It's the little things I think, and while it won't kill the spam, it will at least make it a little more manageable. The case does matter when highlighting lines with Egg, Gold, Bronze, Brown, Blue, and Green as there will be nothing else consistent to be able to track egg or hatchling poses."

Satiet thinks that covers most hatching-related foo. :) I'd like to take this moment to thank you all (and those reading the log) for being such a great class. ^^ It's been a lot of fun for the Weyr to have such enthusiastic and bright personalities around. :)

N'thei asks for the benefit of everyone because he actually doesn't know a whole lot (welcome to HRW :D), if you aren't here and you don't have a puppeteer and you do have a dragon slated for you, do you still impress?

Niena ooohs at N'thei. Good question -- it would be the night my cats ate the ethernet cord or something.

You say "In general, yes, you will. We will make a pose during the hatching that will 'cover' this in as loose details as possible. We would highly recommend you /do/ show up for the hatching though, either in person or with a puppeteer."

You say "And later, if you log in within 24-48 hoursish or send word as to why you're not around, we will Impress you to that dragon 'off camera' in a 'quick' hatching. XD"

N'thei was going to say it would work as a vignette, but that's even better. We're really nice. :D
